Bridgeport Middle School Special Education
Paint Charge - Summer 2024
I was requested to design and paint a door for the Special Education classroom at Bridgeport Middle School. After being given the theme of dogs, I painted a cartoon design of various dogs with many personalities to showcase the students who would be learning in the classroom. Techniques used during this process were scumble and cutting-in.
Scarborough Royal Guard Banners
Paint Charge - Spring 2024
I was commissioned to complete 5 style replication banners as a tradition of the Scarborough Faire Royal Guard. Each banner was given a unique crest and Latin phrase related to the guard member to which it belonged. Techniques used during this process were scumble, wet blends, cutting-in, and stencil.
Art
Paint Charge - Spring 2022
For this production, I was given eighteen paintings to recreate using style replication as well as a platform and stage space to paint. Techniques used during this process were scumble, spatter, wet blends, cutting-in, stencil, and marble. With a finite timeline to complete this show many of those pieces were cut by the set designer from the final design seen below.
Cloud 9
Technical Director - Fall 2021
This production focused on the scenic dressing for the wire frames being removed and used as props by actors during various scenes to connect each characters story. The most difficult task for this production was flipping over the giant platform after connecting multiple 4x8 platforms together. My favorite part of this set was constructing the wireframe shelves on the edge of each end of the stage.
Tartuffe
Scenic Carpenter - Spring 2021
For this show my focus was the rake stage and 16' table that needed to roll on and off stage while supporting actor weight and being aggressively crawled across. My favorite part of this show was putting together the artwork frames surrounding the stage that were printed then attached to flats.
Drowning Girls
Scenic Carpenter/Scenic Painter - Spring 2021
One of my main tasks on this show was the bathtubs. After weeks of trying to get the rust off and install the claw feet for each tub, the team ran into new issues. The feet would not hold up the bathtubs and some of the feet did not even fit. I created a quick design for cradles that allowed the bathtubs to sit on the floor and be stable for the actors without indenting the painted floor. There were three sets of two cradles made for each tub specifically focused on the curvature of the base of each tub. The flooring is sheets of luan with a special texture no-slip paint applied in different stencils. Then sand was sprinkled on top to guarantee the actors would not slip when they got out of their tubs.
Scenic Painting Course
Style Replication, Brick/Stone, Curtains/Tassels - Spring 2021
During this course, I was able to learn a multitude of techniques to create scenic paintings. I was given an image to recreate and taught which steps could be followed to achieve the outcome needed but allowed the freedom to try my own ideas. My favorite paintings from this course were my pumpkins and my curtains/tassels.
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
Scenic Carpenter/Scenic Painter/Assistant Master Electrician - Fall 2020
For this show the design changed from the original to adapt to the outdoor location. The black/white comic backdrop acted as a wind sail when first installed. After some brainstorming, our designer and technical director decided we needed to cut the drop into small sections and attach them with lauan to the upstage wooden frames to help the design translate safely. My favorite part of this design was the miniature woodstocks that I painted and was tasked with hiding within the scenic wall.
For my role as Assistant Master Electrician, each night we would load in and out the lighting and sound equipment as well as moveable scenic elements. As this show took place at an outdoor pavilion at the college museum, this included locking up the psychiatric booth so it could not be folded out by people walking around the lake during the day.
Create Ardmore
Fire Hydrant Designer/Artist - Summer 2020
This community service project was about decorating and uplifting the Ardmore, OK community during the pandemic. I was able to design and paint two fire hydrants. One is the plains of an Oklahoma sunset; the other is themed around the family that lives on that corner as they have a strong love for Harry Potter. These were painted with oil-based paints to help with weathering and were designed around these cap colors as the caps indicate to the fire department the water pressure.
Little Shop of Horrors
Master Carpenter - Spring 2020
The hardest part of this design was the rotation of the Skid Row/Mushnik and Son Florist platform. The platform was made of three different pieces that needed to be attached prior to being flipped right side up then pinned into the stage floor. My favorite part of this design was making Audrey 2 from foam and adding ping-pong balls to the lips for extra texture.
